5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Jacket, November 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Columbia Womens Melange Maven Down Jacket (Apparel)
Let me say that I really like this jacket. It is also insulated, so I have no doubt that it will keep me warm. I purchased the Columbia Benton Fleece Jacket about a month ago and I bought this jacket to be layered on top of the fleece jacket. The picture does this jacket no justice. If you want to see a more flattering picture go to the columbia website. This jacket has a very flattering fit also. I am a tall girl; 6'3" to be exact, and I love the fact that the Columbia brand runs long in the arms and torso. This is something that is very important to me because other brands (The North Face)tend to have shorter length sleeves which make me look like Herman Munster..... not sexy! This jacket is $150 everywhere else, so I suggest purchasing this jacket from amazon.com. Amazon also has super fast shipping. I ordered this Saturday evening and received it Tuesday afternoon. Happy Shopping!

I am adding a follow up to my original review. The first day I wore this jacket the high... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly warm, very flattering without being bulky, January 26, 2011
This review is from: Columbia Womens Melange Maven Down Jacket (Apparel)
This is the warmest coat I have ever worn. I tested it out running errands in it in 5 degree weather while wearing just a t-shirt underneath it. I wasn't cold once - it was awesome. The coat is surprisingly not bulky at all, which is something I was very worried about in a down coat. Also, no feathers have poked through it or leaked out like many down jackets seem to do. I am 5'4", have an hourglass figure and a very large chest (which often makes fitting coats a problem). This coat flattered me nicely without making me look "puffy" or top heavy. The sleeves are just a tad long on me which is probably a good thing, as it keeps your wrists warm. This is a great coat and I am so pleased I bought it.

Also - as for the other reviewer who mentioned that the zipper is cheap, I'll agree that it's not the best. However, you could take the coat to any tailor shop and have the zipper replaced pretty inexpensively. I will certainly do this if and when the zipper on mine ever... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware of zipper, February 2, 2011
This review is from: Columbia Womens Melange Maven Down Jacket (Apparel)
Bought the jacket because it was very flattering, and loved the Tarte color. However, ultimately returned it. Most times, it took 10 or more times to get the zipper to zip. I had zipper rage! Shouldn't have that issue with a coat that lists at $150, and REFUSE to replace a zipper on a coat unless I've worn it for a few years and it fails. That's just wrong. Columbia ruined an otherwise great product.
