These skis are great for beginners! Both my 8 year old and 5 year old got right up!
You just need to get in the water with the child to help keep the skis straight-
tell them to keep their arms straight- and stand up-
when the boat starts just give them a push to help lift them up- and they are off-
The bar on the front of the skis keeps the skis together and the rope is attached to the
bar- thus keeping the pressure off their little arms. The tow rope comes up from the skis
while the other end is held by an adult in the boat. When they fall just let go of the rope so
that they aren't dragged by the boat. Its all very easy- and my kids were up in just a few tries.
The secret is to tell them to stand right up-

I am very happy with the skis. I have taught all my cousins to ski years ago and wished I had used these skis-
as it would have saved me hours of being in the water! These skis were a dream and the smiles and the confidence... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars These skis actually work!, August 1, 2011

We took 5 kids water skiing with these skis. The ages ranged from 6 to 11.
Each of them had never skied before. Within three tries each all of them were up out of the water (three of the children were up the first time). The skis took a lot of frustration out of the learning process. If you have ever taught kids to ski, the most difficult part is keeping the points up and straight. The front brace fixes this. The brace seems durable enough, and allows both front and back movement, as well as the ability to press on one ski or the other to zigzag.

Pros:
These trainer skis work to get kids up fast with as little submarining as possible. They definitely build confidence until the child is ready to move to the next step. The brace seems durable and no tools are needed to keep them attached.

Cons:
1) The "three hole slider" adjustment to the rope/handle does not work. It slides and does not catch on the poly rope. We had to knot the rope in... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Descent skis, June 30, 2011

These skis are pretty good. Both my kids, ages 6 and 7.5 were able to get up on these pretty easily. I needed to get in the water with them to help the hold the skis down in the water to get in the proper position. Once up the skis are very stable and are very easy on the kids arms. Now a year later they were strong enough get in the proper position without me getting into the water. The only concern I have is the quality of the rope material but I think it will last until my kids are ready to move to a bigger pair.
