The Scorpion EXO-900 Transformer Motorcycle Helmet features an aerodynamic fiberglass-Kevlar shell. Each vent port utilizes a toggle open-close system for user ease while riding. An aero skirt at the chin reduces internal face wind and the liner is Scorpions ever-popular KwikWick moisture wicking material. The concept of a modular motorcycle helmet is nothing new to the industry, but the Scorpion EXO-900 has taken it three steps forward. Step one: adjust the fit along the jaw line using the AirFit inflation system. Step 2: EverClear anti-fog coating on all internal shield surfaces. That means both sides of the SpeedView sun visor and the inside surface of the face shield. Step 3: remove the entire face canopy and attach the supplied peak visor for an open-face configuration. I live in Seattle, and ride 12 months a year. I have ridden through rain that if I had worn my old Shoei, would have had rain inside the visor. No problems with the EXO 900. As I sometimes ride from before the sun comes up, until breakfast, the built in sun shade is perfect. No more fiddling with different visors, or trying to put on sunglasses while wearing a helmet.As Scorpion helmets do size differently than other brands I have owned, I strongly suggest putting one on your head BEFORE making a purchase. You will be much happier on that first 300 mile ride. Another feature I like was the section designed for the two-way radio. I was able to modify the cover (without altering the actual helmet) in order to install my Chatterbox headset. The helmet is a bit heavier than my Shoei, but like they say, "What's the difference between a Scorpion helmet, and other top of the line helmets... However, they continue to innovate and provide products at more than competitive prices. I have definitely worn lighter helmets, but for the price this transformer is great. It is a tight fit, so please order one size larger than your reg helmet size.It is a warm helmet. The venting is not adequate for very hot weather. That being said, this is a transformer. So, if the weather is that hot....just flip it up (cooling problem solved). Being a transformer, the helmet can turn into a 3/4 helmet. However, unlike the shark transformer if you want to turn it into a full 3/4 you actually have to take off the face piece. I wish they would have taken a note from Shark and allowed the full transformation to take place without removing anything from the helmet because that is just one more piece you have to keep track of. Scorpion definitely has my loyalty. All the gear that I ride with is scorpion. Ordered this from hivizstore who were great to deal with! My initial impressions are; It's a little heavy (to be exptected), It's large on the outside, and snug on the inside. I almost always wear medium helmets and this one may be a hair more snug than the HJC, but I think it will break in with a little time and be perfect. It's better to have the helmet snug for safety reasons anyway. I got the neon color in order to be seen when riding in urban areas. I have seen a few guys riding with these bright helmets and they really stand out. I think it will be really good in the city and on busy highways. I like the flip up face shield and the flip down sunglasses. I haven't tried converting it to a 3/4 helmet yet so I can't comment. This helmet seems to be priced competitively given all the features. I will update this review once I have several hundred miles with it. |
