1.0 out of 5 stars What were they thinking?, December 25, 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Monster Jam: Path Of Destruction (Video Game)
I was so excited to buy my son the most recent version of this game. he has practically burned through the disc playing Monster Jam Urban Assault.

He was equally excited when he opened this today, and loaded it up to play.
It took less than 5 minutes for him to put the controller down, and walk away disappointed.

This is absolutely the WORST iteration of the Monster Jam series.

Apparently the idea was to make it more realistic, no more blasting through solid objects, the truck rolls over at the slightest driving mistake, and you can't slam into the walls and break your wheels off, etc

(Hey Activision, you forgot to make us sit through a 20 minute pit crew meeting before heading out on the track. That would make it even MORE realistic)!

Did I mention that there is no free play? Everything is within a scripted career path. You don't get to choose what you do, you just try to learn the stupid, and mostly impossible tricks as... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars My son LOVES it!, January 2, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Monster Jam: Path Of Destruction (Video Game)
Our son was really looking forwards to this coming out. He didn't know what to expect, but was hoping for certain changes. It had almost every change he hoped for, and then some! Many of the newer trucks are there. It has the drivers talking to you, as if you are there! (He talks back to them!) The graphics & controls are improved.
The only thing I personally wish were different is that the commentator says many of the same phrases as Urban Assault. Wouldn't be so bad if they actually said those things on Speed!

1.0 out of 5 stars not as good as previous jams, December 28, 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Monster Jam: Path Of Destruction (Video Game)
I agree with the previous 1 star review. This is the most annoying new game I have played in the past year.My 11 year old son had the 2 previous monster jams and he and I loved them. They are a blast to play. This game is very frustrating to say the least. It is more realistic than the first 2 and while that may be great for other sports games,it is not for monster truck games.I want a game in which the object is to race a group of trucks and smash everything in sight. At the very least I want to freestyle in which outragious stunts can be done.I don't even know the object of the game,I freestyle for 10 minutes and don't score a point ,or advance,or do anything fun for that matter. In fact I spend most of the time trying not to flip the truck on its side(this happens every few seconds)I had very high hopes for this based on the first 2 installments of monster jam,but this game is a complete dud.
